The head, neck and shoulders are areas that hold a great deal of tension. By applying firm but gentle rhythmical manipulations tension is soothed, headache and eyestrain relieved and concentration restored.
Originally used by the women to keep their hair in peak condition, this treatment includes massaging certain Ayurdevic pressure points, mainly on the face and head. The purpose of these points is to release muscular tension, particularly in the neck and shoulders, for mental relaxation but with enhanced acuity and general re-energisation.
Indian Head Massage stimulates the circulation to nourish the muscles and skin and carry away toxins.
- It reduces tension,
- relaxes muscles,
- increases joint mobility,
- increases the supply of oxygen to the brain,
- promotes hair growth
- and calms the respiratory system therefore reducing anxiety and tiredness, clearing and focusing the mind, creating tranquillity and well being.
This is the ideal therapy for the less able bodied as it can be performed in a sitting position, anywhere, without removing clothing. The massage lasts approximately twenty minutes and can be performed either with or without oil.
